As the year winds down, the Helios AI team stepped away from dashboards and data pipelines and gathered in New York City for our annual company offsite — a moment to reflect, reconnect, and look ahead.

Because if 2025 made one thing clear across the food, agriculture, and commodity industries, it’s this: supply chain disruption and volatility are no longer exceptions — they are the baseline.

Over the past year, global supply chains faced relentless pressure:

We kicked things off with a Helios-style icebreaker: “Pick Your Commodity Superpower.”

Each team member chose a commodity persona that reflected how they work and how they handle volatility:

• Cocoa — The Complex Strategist, managing multi-variable chaos

• Coffee — The Catalyst, generating momentum & energy

• Wheat — The Foundation, anchoring systems and operations

• Pineapple — The Spiky Optimist, resilient under tough conditions

The exercise was playful, but the lesson was real.

Just like global supply chains, resilience doesn’t come from one strength — it comes from diverse roles working together, each responding differently under pressure. That same principle powers Helios’ predictive models, which synthesize signals across climate, commodities, and disruption instead of treating them in silos.

What Spaghetti Taught Us About Supply Chain Resilience

Next came the hands-on challenge: Building Resilient Spaghetti Supply Chains.

Teams were asked to design a “global supply chain” using:

• Spaghetti as transport links

• Lasagna sheets as distribution hubs and warehouses

• Tape as a limited stabilization budget

The goal was to optimize for:

• Network length

• Structural height

• Durability

• Resilience to disruption

Then the shocks hit:

• Climate events (wind)

• Port closures (removed hubs)

• Demand spikes (sudden expansion requirements)

• Supplier failures (restricted access)

Some structures collapsed instantly. Others bent, rerouted, and survived.

It was a surprisingly accurate physical model of modern supply chains — and a reminder that resilience isn’t about avoiding shocks, but designing systems that can absorb them. That philosophy sits at the core of Helios AI’s approach to supply chain risk and volatility forecasting.

Outside the workshops, we leaned into being together — great food, long conversations, and shared perspective.

We closed the offsite with a Cirque du Soleil performance at Madison Square Garden Theater, a powerful reminder that what looks effortless on the surface is supported by extraordinary coordination behind the scenes.
